You did not begin this work, and you are not the one holding it together. The same God who reached into your situation, exposed your need, and began the transformation is the One who will complete it — and part of how He completes it is by sending you to someone who is where you were.
Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps — you carry the message. Not the program. Not the method. The message: that there is a God who is actually able, who hears, who transforms, who restores. That message is carried best by someone who has lived it.
Mark 16:15 is not addressed only to apostles. It is the commission of every person who has encountered the living God and been changed by the encounter. Go. Into all the world. To every creature.
You do not need a theology degree to carry the message of Step 12. You need your story — honest, unpolished, and real. The person in the grip of what had you in its grip does not need a lecture. They need to see someone who was there and is not there anymore, and to hear what made the difference.
Your recovery is not only your recovery. It is evidence. Carry it accordingly.
Step 12 also calls for practicing these principles in all your affairs — not just in meetings, not just in recovery contexts, but in every relationship, every workplace, every family interaction. The steps are not a program you complete. They are a way of living you carry forward.
He will finish what He started in you. Go and tell someone what He started.
